  I have worked with a number of acupuncturists over the past 20 years, and I can say without hesitation, that my experience with Dr. Cheng has been exceptional. A few months ago, I began experiencing a number of issues that were quite painful, causing me a great deal of anxiety. I was so concerned that I wouldn't be able to work. Dr. Cheng inmediately put me at ease, and provided me with a prescribed course of acupuncture treatments and complementary herbal medicines. I am thrilled to say that my health has made a complete turnaround, and I feel stronger than I did even before my health issues occurred. Amazing! My mother and aunt are now patients of Dr. Cheng as well!
  
  I am so grateful for having found Dr. Cheng. He is kind, intuitive, immensely skilled, and posesses a wonderful bedside manner. If you have never tried acupuncture before, or are in the market for a new doctor, do not hesitate to schedule an appointment with Dr. Cheng. You will be glad you did!

  I was so fortunate to discover Dr Cheng! I had been suffering from chronic pain, most notably low back pain for close to five years with no relief. After just a few visits, my anxiety vanished, my sleep improved tenfold and my glow returned! My low back pain has substantially decreased and I have been able to return to gentle exercise. Dr Cheng is extremely knowledgeable and professional, offering a relaxing, pain free experience in his conveniently located office in Columbia. I highly recommend!

  Perhaps a handful of times in my life, I have been privileged to meet individuals who are truly masters in their field of expertise. Dr. Cheng is one of those rare people.
  
  Twenty years ago I lacerated my heel to the bone, and that injury formed a scar that traveled from one side to the other. Until Dr. Cheng began to treat me, I have lived with the limits imposed by that scar all those years--not being able to run or walk long distances. The many podiatrists I visited had little to offer. Physical therapy helped some, but only since being under Dr. Cheng's skillful care have I truly felt relief, and am now able to be on that foot with almost no pain.
  
  The significant reduction of the scar just touches on what I mean when I say "master of his field". Each time I go in for a treatment, Dr. Cheng is able to very quickly assess not just the state of my foot, but of my overall health in an extremely nuanced way. Whatever the condition I present, Dr. Cheng is able to help, is able to treat it--sometimes addressing several issues at once, and frequently revealing the underlying connections between each. Of course, Chinese Medicine is a challenge for those in the West to understand fully, but an attentive mind will allow any patient to discover tremendous insights about whatever condition they present. To someone with an open mind, a series of visits with Dr. Cheng will be instructive, healing, and transforming all at once. As both a master of Chinese Medicine, and a MD, he is able to understand the Western description of a condition and translate into a Chinese diagnosis with ease.
  
  I should mention that my case was made further complex by the fact that after twenty years of adjusting my physiology to adapt to the scar tissue, I developed a secondary condition of Plantar Fasciitis, which caused pain just inches away from the scar tissue. Dr. Cheng instantly determined how address both conditions, again revealing his highly personalized, nuanced treatments.
  
  Dr. Cheng's placement of the needles is always deft and sure--though the term "needles" brings up an incorrect association--really they are just thin filaments. Further, he has a a very gentle and caring demeanor/bedside manner.
  
  I--along with my wife who has likewise had excellent results from her visits, and along with her physical therapist who first recommended him to us--cannot recommend Dr. Cheng high enough. If you want help with whatever ails you, it would be a mistake to not go see him. We are fortunate to have Dr. Cheng here in the USA.
  
  edited review in 2018: I am again amazed by Dr. Cheng's skill as I return now with a new condition of sleep apnea. In just two sessions, not only is my sleep vastly improved, but I have a newfound sense of overall health, and fluidity of motion: "channels" which had been blocked now move freely again for the first time in my memory.

  When I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, it never occurred to me that it did not have to be a life sentence or that people who practice TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) even existed. Thanks to a good friend, I was referred to Dr.. Cheng and it changed my life and the lives of family members and friends. He is competent, kind, and professional.
